One time, on the bus, this man leaned in ultra-slow-like to the poll he was holding onto, and, when he thought no one was looking, he licked the poll. Another time I saw someone do cocaine on the bus. Sometimes people sneeze in my general direction on the bus. And, as the weather gets nicer, more and more people smell horrible on the bus. Even first thing in the morning. So, I’ve decided to start biking to and from work. This shall require a whole new routine. Which I am going to write about even though it is probably not interesting to anyone who isn’t me.
1) Pack breakfast (oatmeal + almonds) lunch and snacks (yogurt, veggies, fruit), clothes, make-up, hair stuff the night before.
2) Wake up slightly more early (DAMN)
3) Showering at work (which is all good and fun until middle aged French Canadian co-workers attempt to chat with en francais you while you are in the shower — I AM NOT CHATTY IN THE MORNING. LET ALONE IN FRENCH. MERDE!)
I’m also going to use this biking thing as an excuse to switch up my work out routine. Nothing helps plateauing quite like actually changing your work out routine instead of just writing about it. I hear. I am not exactly an expert given that I weigh pretty much what I weighed at this time last year. Shit. Self-deprication moment. Actually, I am way, way stronger than I was at this time last year. I went on my first bike ride of the spring yesterday and could definitely feel the months and months of spinning classes paying off on the road. And I at dragon boat practice last week I could really feel the power I can now put onto the paddle given the months and months of weight training I have done since last season. So, it’s not like it has all been for naught.
